More than
The ability to hear and understand well is extremely important for our communication, orientation and safety. Yet over 15 million people are impacted by hearing loss in Germany alone. The cutting-edge research conducted in the Hearing4all Cluster of Excellence – a research collaboration between the University of Oldenburg (lead university), Â鶹¹ÙÍø and the Hannover Medical School – is dedicated to them. The cluster’s researchers are developing innovative concepts for diagnostics, hearing aids and hearing implants.
Our goal
The mission of the Hearing4all Cluster of Excellence is to provide the best possible care to all those impacted by hearing loss. People who cannot hear well often feel isolated and more frequently experience depression, dementia and sleep disorders. Improved hearing diagnostics for individuals and the corresponding provision of personalised hearing aids will play a decisive role in improving their quality of life. To make this a reality, researchers from the participating universities and other partners are working closely together across disciplines.
Their research spans neurobiological foundations and improved diagnostic methods, the development of a new generation of hearing aids and cochlear implants, and innovative surgical methods and other potential treatments.
